We Have Failed As A Nation, I Feel Ashamed: Gautam Gambhir On Unnao Rape Victim’s Death

Mumbai: Expressing his grief over the death of Unnao rape victim BJP lawmaker Gautam Gambhir said “it is very disheartening that today we all have failed as a nation,” ANI news agency reported.

Gambhir told ANI, “Today I feel ashamed as an Indian because we failed a rape victim who was raped first, then brutally burnt by the accused. It is disappointing that we are a nation. As have failed to save him. ”

He said that all individuals should take responsibility for party lines and should not politicize such cases.
Urging political parties to stand together in support of rape victims, he said: “I just want to request that we should not politicize, at least in rape cases. Feeling the pain of the victim’s family is very It is tough. The nation belongs to both men and women. We have to stop a situation where women feel insecure after sunset.”

“I want this country as much for women as it is for men. They have contributed a lot to nation-building. The mindset needs to change, not women’s dressing style.”

After battling for life at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital, the Unnao rape victim, who was abducted on Thursday morning at 11:40 am while going to court, died at 11:40 pm on Friday night.

On Thursday, the 23-year-old was airlifted from Lucknow’s SMC government hospital to Safdarjung Hospital.
