Mumbai: Amid speculation that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will meet Interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi, the Trinamool Congress said it will prepare all opposition parties to take on the BJP.
“TMC is at the forefront of protecting India’s constitutional democracy. We want to build cooperation between the opposition parties,” said party spokesperson Om Prakash Mishra.
Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to visit the national capital this month during the monsoon session of Parliament.
She is planning to meet President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to reports, she is also expected to meet various leaders of opposition parties in Delhi including Sonia Gandhi.
“I will go to Delhi for two-three days. I will meet PM. I have time. I will also meet the President,” Banerjee said during a press conference on Thursday.
After his party’s resounding assembly election victory, the TMC supremo has given a clarion call to the opposition to unite and bring down the Narendra Modi government in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
