Mumbai: Indian fast bowler S Sreesanth said he would contest the 2024 Lok Sabha election as a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate and defeat Congress MP Shashi Tharoor from his Thiruvananthapuram constituency in Kerala.
“I am a huge fan of him (sic) as a person who stood by me, but I will beat him in elections in Thiruvananthapuram. There is no doubt about it, ”he said in an interview with The Indian Express.
In the interview, he also talked about his time in Tihar Jail and how to deal with the painful experiences he faced. He insists that he is innocent.
“Now I am in control and a lot of good things are happening – from music, movies, books, web-series, cricket and politics.” S Sreesanth speaking to The Indian Express.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had banned Sreesanth in August 2013 along with his Rajasthan Royals teammates Ajit Chandila and Ankit Chavan for their alleged involvement in spot-fixing in that year’s IPL.
But on 15 March this year, the Supreme Court quashed the BCCI’s disciplinary committee order and the suspension was reduced to seven years, allowing it to play next year.
