With 705 Active Cases, Manipur Reports 1st COVID Death In State
Mumbai: An official said Manipur on Wednesday reported its first COVID-19 death where a 56-year-old man succumbed to illness at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).
This is the first COVID-19 death in the state, RIMS director, Ahantam Santha Singh told PTI here.
The RIMS director said that the deceased is a resident of Khongjom Sapam village in Thoubal district, who was admitted to the institute on 22 May for treatment of a serious kidney problem and high blood pressure.
The director said that the patient tested COVID-19 on Sunday and died early Wednesday.
Till Tuesday, a total of 2,317 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Manipur, of which 705 are active as 1,612 people have recovered from the disease, officials said.
He said that the recovery rate of COVID-19 in the state is 69.70 percent.
