Mumbai: A banker who kissed a Sub-inspector (SI) during Bonalu celebrations at Nallakunta on Sunday night was charged for assaulting a police officer. The video of the incident went viral on social media and the incident came to light.
SI K Mahendra was on protection duty at Narshima Basti in Nallakunta where locals were celebrating Bonalu on Sunday night. When he walked through the dancing crowd, one of them hugged and kissed the SI. The SI slapped and pushed the man away. The youth went back and continued dancing.
The video of the incident went viral on social media. On the instructions of the senior officials, Nallakunta police launched a probe and identified the man as P Bhanu (28), an employee of a private bank in Somajiguda branch.
Nallakunta police inspector K Murlidhar said, “Bhanu was dancing at the Bonalu celebrations, where he hugged and kissed the on-duty SI. He appeared to be in an intoxicated state. For his inappropriate behaviour, a case was lodged against him under section 353- assault or use of criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty, of the IPC and has been taken into custody.”
