Bhiwandi Building Collapse: Death Toll Rises To 39, 4-Year-Old Boy Rescued By NDRF

Mumbai: The death toll from the Bhiwandi building collapse rose to 39, even as the rescue operation continued for the third consecutive day on Wednesday.

Some of the identities mentioned by the officials include Zubir Khurshi, Fayyaz Khurshi, Ayesha Qureshi, Siraj Abdul Sheikh, Fatma Zubir, Siraj Ahmed Sheikh.

The building with 21 flats collapsed around 3.40 am Monday when a three-storey building in the Patel Compound area of ​​the city collapsed. Most of the occupants were sleeping at the time of the accident. Two civil officials have so far been suspended for their negligence. As reported by Times Now earlier, the building had 150 residents at the time of the incident.

Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were taken to the scene and rescue operations were started with the help of a canine team as well as a technical team.

According to the rescue agency, as of Tuesday morning, nine of the 26 dead were identified as children. A four-year-old child was also rescued by NDRF personnel.
