BJP Tapped Phones Of NCP-Sena Leaders During Maha Assemble Election : Shiv Sena

The minister further alleged that cyber cell officials were sent to Israel to study various software used for snooping

Mumbai: In another drama at Maharashtra politics here it has been reported that the phones of non-BJP leaders in Maharashtra were tapped during the Maharashtra assembly elections.

Whereas Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has said a senior BJP minister of the previous government had also warned him that his phone was being tapped.

In a tweet on Friday, Sanjay Raut said, “Your phone is being tapped. This was told to me by a senior BJP minister earlier. I told him whoever wishes to listen to my conversations is free to do so. I am a disciple of Balasaheb Thackeray, I don’t do anything secretly.”

According to IndiaToday sources, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has ordered a probe into the charges, after the allegations erupted that the phones of non-BJP leaders in Maharashtra were tapped during the Maharashtra assembly elections.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Thursday alleged that previous Devendra Fadnavis misused the government machinery to tap the phones of opposition leaders.

Talking to reporters in Mumbai, Deshmukh said that the cyber cell of the state police department has been instructed to look into the complaints of phone tapping and snooping of the leaders who were in the opposition then.

“The cyber cell of Maharashtra Police has been asked to look into various complaints of snooping / phone tapping during the previous government. This inquiry is being done after complaints of snooping on opposition leaders, especially the formation of (Maharashtra Development) Agri) government, ”Deshmukh said.

The Maharashtra government further said that there is no doubt that the previous dispensation has misused the government machinery to tap the phones of the leaders of opposition parties.

The minister further alleged that cyber cell officials were sent to Israel to study various software used for snooping.

“There were reports that some officials were sent to Israel to study the snooping software. We are finding out who went to Israel and whether there was an official engagement,” Deshmukh said.
