BKU Leader Tikait Tells Centre To End Stir With Talks Or Bullets

Mumbai: Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait has urged the central government to end the farmers’ protest with talks or bullets.

Talking to the media, Tikait said that farmers are ready to talk to the government on agricultural laws but made it clear that the discussion should take place without any conditions.

The BKU leader’s statement came after Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar appealed to the farmers’ unions to end their protest and come forward for discussion.

Tikait also accused the Uttar Pradesh Police of preventing the people of the state from participating in the farmers’ protests at the borders of Delhi.

He alleged that many people from the Purvanchal region in the eastern part of the state were either not getting public transport to reach Delhi or the local police were stopping them.

“Trains are not running. If people are found wearing flags or caps of protesting farmers’ unions, they are stopped from going to the borders of Delhi,” claimed Tikait.
