Congress Leader Navjot Singh Sidhu Skips Cabinet Meet

Mumbai: Hitting out at Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh, cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu has skipped the cabinet meeting where a major reshuffle of portfolios was expected today.

After this call by the Chief Minister of Sidhu, there has been a rift between the Congress leaders.

Sidhu said that he is being selected for the poor performance of the party. Specifically, for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Sindhu was given the responsibility of Amritsar and Tarn Taran where the party did relatively well.

“I am responding to the functioning of my department because I have been excluded. Sidhu alleged that the Mayor in my department has been appointed by CM and I can not question him. Sidhu said, “(in the Amarinder cabinet) does anyone have such vision and such transparency?”

Earlier, Sindhu was absent from the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting last week under the chairmanship of Amarinder Singh. He had convened a meeting to review the performance of the Lok Sabha elections and blamed the Indus for ‘incompetence’ in handling the department.
