Culprits Will Pay To Recover The Damages Took Place In Bangalore Violence: BS Yediyurappa

Mumbai: In a huge development in Bangalore violence, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa confirmed that the Karnataka govt has decided to recover the damages from the culprits.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, the Karnataka CM said, “Our Govt has decided to assess the damages caused to public and private property in the violent incidents in KG Halli and DG Halli, and recover the costs from the culprits.”

He also confirmed that his government will now move the High Court to appoint a claims commissioner as per the Supreme Court order.

BS Yediyurappa said that stringent action has been initiated against the culprits of DJ Holi and KG Halli violent incidents, including the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

“A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has already been formed to conduct a detailed investigation in the matter and a team of three special prosecutors will be appointed for speedy trial of the cases. SIT will consider invoking Goonda Act if warranted,” said the Karnataka CM.

So far 340 people have been arrested in connection with the violence that took place on August 11 in parts of East Bengaluru on an allegedly abusive social media post.

Violent clashes killed at least three people and injured about 60 people. The mob set fire to a large number of vehicles and buildings.
