Dean Jones Dead: Cricket Fraternity Pays Tribute After Australian Legend Died Due To Cardiac Arrest

Mumbai: Following the death of Australian Cricket legend Dean Jones due to a massive heart attack, the cricket fraternity paid tribute to his remarkable contribution to Cricket. 

He was 59 years old.

Paying tribute to “a colleague and a dear friend,” India head coach Ravi Shastri said Jones “gone so young”.

Former India opener Virender Sehwag also took to Twitter to share the grief. He wrote, “Saddened to hear the news of Dean Jones passing away. Still cannot believe it. Was one of my favorite commentators, he was on air in many of my landmarks. Had really fond memories with him. Will miss him.”

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan expressed his grief saying, “I’m deeply shocked and saddened by the demise of our fellow commentator #DeanJones   He was fine in the morning. I had a video call with his son two days back. Everything was fine. Everything was normal. I can’t believe this #RIP”

Australian cricketer and SunRisers Hyderabad captain David Warner tweeted saying, “I can’t believe this news. So very sad to hear about this. Rip Deano, you will be missed.”

Melbourne-born Dean Jones played 52 Tests, scoring 3631 runs at an average of 46.55. With the best score of 216, Jones scored 11 centuries and was an important member of Alan Border’s team.

Jones also played 164 ODIs and scored 6068 runs with the help of seven centuries and 46 fifties.

Jones was one of the first Australian batsmen to be cut for the limited-overs game and was quite successful in it.
