Delhi Woman Gang-Raped By 25 Men After FB Friend Calls Her To Meet Parents

Mumbai: A Delhi woman was gang-raped by 25 men on May 3 after a man she met on Facebook called her to meet his parents.  9 days after the incident, the woman approached the police when she finally gathered the strength to narrate her ordeal, The Times Of India reported.

The woman works as a domestic staffer in Delhi, who started living in the state around 4 years ago. The woman met a person named Sagar on Facebook in January this year and the two exchanged phone numbers.

The woman started talking to Sagar on the phone and the two became friends. After some time, Sagar reportedly proposed marriage to the woman and offered to introduce her to his parents. The 23-year-old then asked the woman to come to Hodal where she could meet his parents directly.

According to the Times of India, the woman travelled to Hodal on 3 May and met a 23-year-old man. Sagar took the woman to Ramgarh village forest instead of visiting her parents. Sagar’s brother and a group of his friends were drinking alcohol near a tubewell in the forest.

When the woman reached the spot, the accused pounced on her and raped her. The next day the woman was taken to a scrap dealer named Akash. Were she was raped by five men. After repeatedly raping her, when the woman’s condition deteriorated, the five accused escaped by throwing her near the Badarpur border.

The woman went to Hasanpur police station on May 12 and lodged a complaint against the accused. The woman told the police that there was a delay in filing the complaint due to the woman being ill.

Times of India quoted SHO Rajesh saying that they arrested Sagar on Friday and efforts are underway to nab the others. A case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
