Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said for next few weeks testing, tracing, isolation and quarantine should remain the areas of focus.

Prime Minister Modi underlined that the common goal for the country is to ensure minimum loss of life.
“For the next few weeks, testing, tracing, isolation and quarantine should remain areas of focus,” he said, highlighting the need for the availability of raw materials for the manufacture of essential medical products, supplies of drugs and medical devices.

He said that it is necessary to ensure the availability of separate, dedicated hospital facilities for COVID-19 patients. To increase the availability of doctors, the Prime Minister asked the states to tap into the resource pool of AYUSH doctors, conduct online training and use paramedical staff, NCC and NSS volunteers.

“Underlining the importance of coordinated action and the need to avoid overlap in the efforts of stakeholders, Prime Minister Modi spoke about the need to appoint district management officers at the district level and to set up crisis management groups at the district level.

He asked the states to consider other platforms for purchasing grain apart from APMC and explore the possibility of creating pooling platforms for rural areas, such as ride-sharing apps, which can be used for this purpose.

According to the statement, the Chief Ministers thanked Modi for his leadership, constant guidance and support in this time of crisis. He commended him for taking the bold and timely decision of lockdown, which has helped prevent the spread of the virus in the country.

Prime Minister Modi thanked the Chief Ministers for their suggestions and also made them aware of the situation on the ground. He said that it is necessary to work on a war footing, identify the hotspots of the virus, surround them and ensure that the virus does not spread outside. He said that it is appropriate to maintain peace and law and order in the whole country.

He said that COVID-19 has attacked our faith and belief and threatens our way of life. The Prime Minister said that it is important to formulate a common exit strategy to ensure the population is staggered after the lockdown ends. He asked the states to brainstorm and send suggestions for an exit strategy. He reiterated the importance of social disturbances in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
