Harmilan Bains Wins Asian Indoor Athletics Championships Gold

Mumbai: The Indian women’s track-and-field athlete Harmilan Bains won an individual gold medal in the morning session of Day 1 at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships 2024 in Tehran, Iran. With that, India has made a bright start for India in the athletics championships, already surpassing their gold medal tally from the previous edition.

Bains, who won two silver medals at the Hangzhou Asian Games, clocked 4:29.25 in the 1500m race in Tehran on Saturday to clinch the top honor at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships. Kalil Kyzy Ainuska of Kyrgystan finished in the second spot with a timing of 4:35.29 while Kazakhstan’s Bolatbekkyzy Aiana finished third with a timing of 4:37.20.

India has sent a total of 15 athletes – 8 females and 7 males for the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships 2024 in Tehran and will be hoping to better their medals tally at the event from last year.
