Haryana Election: 50 Per Cent Voter Turnout Recorded Till 3:15 PM

Mumbai: Polling is underway Haryana and Maharashtra whereas, Haryana has recorded a 50 per cent turnout till 3:15 PM, for the assembly elections to the 90 Vidhan Sabha seats.

Election Commission data showed that in many districts, there is a sharp turnout. The constituencies where fast voting was going on included Kaithal (32 per cent), Guhla reserved area (31 per cent), Thanesar (27.64 per cent), Sirsa (27 per cent), Narnaund (32 per cent), Tohana (30.50). Per cent), Tosham (36 per cent), Rewari (30 per cent).

Assembly segments where moderate turnout was seen till noon included Baroda (23 per cent), Garhi Sampala-Kiloi (25.40 per cent), Punhana (25 per cent) and Adampur (25.37 per cent). The segments where the turnout was comparatively low include Gurgaon (14.30 per cent), Faridabad (12.26 per cent), Panchkula (19.20 per cent) and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s home constituency Karnal (16.10 per cent).

As many as 1,169 candidates, including 105 women from various political parties, are in the fray for the Assembly elections 2019. BJP and Congress are contesting all 90 seats, BSP candidates are contesting on 87 seats, INLD is contesting. There are 81 seats and 375 candidates contesting as independents.

Political analysts say the main contest is largely between the BJP and the Congress.

In the 2014 Haryana Assembly elections, the BJP had won 47 of the total 90 seats and Manohar Lal Khattar became the first Chief Minister of the saffron party in the state. The Congress had won only 15 seats.
