India Defeats Sri Lanka By 78 Runs To Clinch The T20 Series By 2-0

Mumbai: Continuing the winning streak team India defeated Sri Lanka Hy 78 runs to wrap up the three-match T20I series 2-0 in their favor at the Maharashtra Cricket Association in Pune.

Last match of the 3 matches T20 series in Pune witnessed Shikhar Dhawan’s getting back in form KL Rahul thriller batting performance and Shardul Thakur’s all-round performance.

Winning the toss Sri Lankan skipper choose to field first as the pitch seems to be good for batting in the second half.

Rahul and Dhawan opened the innings on the front-foot as they took on the Lankan bowlers with Willow with his natural swagger. While Dhawan scored 52 runs for 36 runs, Rahul scored 54 from 36 balls.

Manish Pandey played a crucial inning of 31 not out off 18 balls, helping India to a high. However, it was Shardul Thakur, who stole the show with another 28-year-old bowler, as the 28-year-old scored 22 off 22 balls to take the score to 201-6 in 20 overs.

Carrying brilliant bowling performance, Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah, Navdeep Saini and Thakur ran through the Lankan top-order with openers Danushka Gunathilaka (1) and Avishka Fernando (9) departing for cheap whereas Kushal Perera (7) and Oshada Fernando (2) following the openers back to duck-out soon.

Angelo Mathews (31 for 20) and Dhananjay de Silva (57 for 36) played quick innings but the 202-run total for Sri Lanka proved to be too much as they eventually suffered a 78-run loss which was three. The series of matches lost 2–. 0.

India will now play three-match ODI series against Australia starting from January 14 with the first match set to be played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
