Mumbai: Uttar Pradesh’s most wanted fugitive Vikas Dubey has been increased from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh on Wednesday as the main accused in the Kanpur encounter.
“The cash reward for the arrest of Vikas Dubey has been increased to Rs 5 lakh. It will be given to those who provide information about them, ”Additional Chief Secretary Avnish Kumar Awasthi told reporters in Lucknow.
Earlier today, Vikas Dubey, the mastermind behind the killing of eight policemen in Kanpur, was seen on the streets in the National Capital Region, Faridabad.
CCTV footage was recovered by UP Police on Tuesday evening in which Vikas could be seen donning the black shirt, jeans, and mask. He was living under a fake identity in a small budget hotel located in the populous Badkhal Chowk area of Faridabad in Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, another CCTV grab revealed that he was standing on the side of the road with a bag waiting for a vehicle.
Two other people associated with him – Ankur, a hotel worker who helped the culprit in hiding and Prabhat, an associate of his village, were arrested.
