Mumbai’s Dharavi Area Reports 11 New COVID-19 Cases

Mumbai: According to a senior BMC official, Dharavi of Dharavi-Colony in Mumbai saw an increase of 3,617 by adding 11 new cases on Monday.

The official said that 3,152 COVID-19 patients in the densely populated areas have been recovered from the infection and discharged from hospitals.

He said that there are currently only 156 active COVID-19 cases in the Slum dominated area.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has stopped sharing coronavirus death figures from Dharavi, which is spread across 2.5 square km and has a population of more than 6.5 lakh.

Among the fatal incidents, Thane city has so far recorded 1,152 deaths, Kalyan-1,005, Navi Mumbai-905 and Mira Bhayander-721.

The official said the civilian boundaries of Bhiwandi, Ambarnath, and Badlapur and Thane villagers had not reported any COVID-19 deaths on Sunday.

So far, the district has 9,342 active cases, while 1,97,435 patients have been recovered, he said. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the district is 93.07 percent, while the death rate is 2.52 percent.
