Novak Djokovic And His Wife Test Negative For Coronavirus

Mumbai: World number one tennis player Novak Djokovic and his wife Jelena have tested negative for coronovirus nine days after testing positive for the virus.

A statement said that both exhibited no symptoms and would remain in self-isolation. Djokovic was among the four players to come down with the virus after hosting a tournament in Serbia’s Belgrade and Croatia’s Zadar.

Earlier, In a statement, the 33-year-old Serbian tennis player said that he was not showing any symptoms but went to be tested as they arrived in Belgrade. Djokovic and his wife Jelena were found positive for COVID19, while their children tested negative.

“I am extremely sorry for each individual case of infection. I hope that it will not complicate anyone’s health situation and that everyone will be fine. I will remain in self-isolation for the next 14 days, and repeat the test in five days,” Djokovic had said.

The tournaments where Djokovic played were packed during the opening leg in Belgrade, players seeing hugging at the net, playing basketball, posing for pictures, and attending press conferences together.

The player said that the motive behind the tournament was noble and he wanted to raise funds for the players in need.

“Everything we did in the past month, we did with a pure heart and sincere intentions,” said Djokovic, who is the head of the player’s council of the men’s ATP Tour. “Our tournament meant to unite and share a message of solidarity and compassion throughout the region.
