Russia President Vladimir Putin Invites Indian PM To Visit Moscow For 2020 Victory Day Celebrations

Mumbai: Russia President Vladimir Putin invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the celebrations to mark the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Moscow on May 2020.

“We are expecting you in May next year at the celebrations devoted to marking the 75th-anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, Victory over Nazism,” the Russian president told Prime Minister Modi during their talks.

Putin said that he planned to meet with Modi at the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) summit in Brazil, scheduled for November.

The Russian president said he had a face-to-face meeting with Modi on Wednesday to discuss a number of issues while traveling on a boat to a new Zweda shipyard and on the way, Tass news agency reported.

Putin honored the Indian Premier for attending the Eastern Economic Forum in Russia’s Far Eastern port city of Vladivostok. He said that before this meeting a serious foundation was prepared by ministries, agencies as well as business entities.

“In the trade, investment and industrial sector, a concrete package of bilateral documents including military and technical relations, education and culture were agreed,” said Putin.

Putin stressed that Russia and India are “actively working globally, supporting each other.” “Our positions on many key issues of the international agenda are very close or coincide,” he said.

Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary, Vijay Gokhale said that  “PM Modi has accepted President Putin’s invitation to attend the 75th anniversary of  the victory of Russian federation & erstwhile the Soviet Union in World War-2, next May in Moscow.”
