Tokyo Olympics: Lovlina Borgohain Defeats Nadine To Enter Quarters
Mumbai: Boxer Lovlina Borgohain (69kg) advanced to the quarter-finals of the women’s welterweight (69-75kg) category at the Tokyo Olympics by defeating Germany’s Nadine Abetz in the round of 16 at the Kokugikan Arena here. Borgohain defeated Apetz 3-2 on Tuesday.

The Indian boxer went on to win Round 1, 3-2 and this increased the pressure on his German opponent.
Lovlina took charge in Round 2, throwing more punches to Apetz from her guard.

The 23-year-old could not believe it and in the end, he won the match, advancing to the quarter-finals. Mary Kom on Sunday defeated Miguelina Garcia of the Dominican Republic in the round of 32 to enter the women’s flyweight (48-51kg) round of 16.

Mary Kom beat Miguelina 4-1. Vikas Krishnan, 29, lost in the Round of 32 in the men’s welterweight boxing event on Saturday and was ruled out of the mega event.
