Mumbai: All eyes were on Congress-NCP final meeting today before they could make any decisions over govt formation in Maharashtra.
Well, briefing about the meeting NCP president Sharad Pawar said that he did not discuss anything about the government formation only updated Sonia Gandhi about the current political situation in the state.
Pawar told reporters, “We did not talk about forming a government with anyone. We only discuss the political situation. We did not talk to anyone to move forward.” Shiv Sena.
Pawar said: “I had a meeting with the Congress president. AK Antony was also present in the meeting. We discussed the political situation in Maharashtra. He wanted to know about the situation I had informed him about.”
“We will monitor the situation. Certain leaders of both (Congress-NCP) parties will meet and discuss further and get back to us. Accordingly, we will decide the future course of action,” said Pawar.
Maharashtra came under President’s rule earlier this week after failing to form a government in the state.
The BJP, which emerged as the single largest party, could not claim to form the government, as its ally Shiv Sena remained on an equal share of the Chief Minister’s post and cabinet berth.
Shiv Sena walked out its 30-year-old alliance with the BJP after its proposed ’50-50′ power-sharing formula was rejected by the BJP. Shiv Sena wanted its candidate to be the chief minister of Maharashtra for 2.5 years as part of the formula which wasn’t acceptable to the BJP.
