Australian Pacer Mitchell Starc Becomes The Leading Wicket-Taker At World Cup 2019

Mumbai: After defeating England one of the favourites in WorldCup, Australian pace bowler Mitchell Starc becomes the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing ICC tournament.

Before playing against England, Starc took 15 wickets in his pocket, 29-year-old England’s four wickets shocks- Joe Root, Eoin Morgan, Ben Stokes, and Adil Rashid – to take his tally to 19 wickets in the tournament so far.

Starc returned with figures of 4-43 against England, Australia’s fast bowler was jointly the highest wicket-taker in the 2015 edition with New Zealand’s Trent Bolt. Both took 22 wickets.

Meanwhile, defending champions Australia have become the first team to enter the semi-finals of the World Cup.

To enter the knock-out stage of the tournament, the hosts need to win their remaining two matches against India and New Zealand respectively. If England has managed to win one of its two bouts, then the fortunes of the team in the tournament will depend on other results.

Australia will next take on New Zealand on June 29 at the Lord’s.
