CAA Can Be Described As World’s Most Important Human Rights Law: BJP MP Roopa Ganguly

Mumbai: BJP MP Roopa Ganguly on Wednesday said Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) should be regarded as the world’s most important human rights law.

Carrying forward his two-day Odisha visit, the actor-politician said that the CAA would not take anyone’s citizenship.

“Either way, the Citizenship Amendment Act will not have any adverse effect on Indian citizens. Opposition parties are promoting lies and misleading propaganda for narrow political purpose,” PTI quoted Ganguly saying.

Ganguly, who met refugees from East Pakistan, had come to Malkangiri and neighbouring Nabarangpur districts during his visit, addressing a meeting organized by the BJP in support of the CAA on Wednesday.

“Despite all the hue and cry over the issue, the fact remains that the CAA is the epitome of humanism. It can be described as the most important human rights law in the world. It aims at giving citizenship to people who come here after being tortured and harassed,” the Rajya Sabha member from West Bengal.”
