India Is Committed To Speed Up Development In Bhutan Using Space Technology: PM Narendra Modi

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that it is an honor for India to be a part of Bhutan’s development process and expressed confidence that the two countries will remain “a unique model of bilateral relations” in the world.

He said that India will continue to support Bhutan in its five-year plans according to the needs of the Himalayan nation.

“Who wouldn’t want a friend and neighbor like Bhutan? It is an honor for us that India is a part of Bhutan’s development,” he said.

Modi said that the combined spiritual heritage and strong people-to-people relationship were the main strengths of the mutual relationship.

“The way our relationship has a proud history, the future is equally bright. I am confident that the relationship between the two countries will remain a unique model in the world.”

He said that the collaboration between Royal Bhutan University and IIT and some other educational institutions was in line with the demands in the field of education and technology.

“I look forward to meeting the bright students of Royal Bhutan University tomorrow,” he said.

The Prime Minister said that India is committed to speed up development in Bhutan using space technology.

“We inaugurated the South Asia satellite earth station. This will increase communication, public broadcasting and disaster management in Bhutan,” he said.

Narendra Modi went on saying about RuPay card launched in Bhutan , he said it will help boost digital payment and boost ties in trade and tourism.

“Under the SAARC currency swap framework, our attitude is positive to increase Bhutan’s share. To fulfill the need of foreign exchange, an additional US dollar 100 million will be available to Bhutan under stand-by swap arrangement,” he said.
