Markets Should Open On Odd-Even Basis: Kejriwal Citing Public Opinion

Mumbai: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday, the public suggested that the market and market complex should be opened on an asymmetrical basis, while schools, barbershops, spas, salons, cinema halls and swimming pools should be closed.

The Delhi government has received a huge response from the public through lockdown remaining messages, e-mails and calls with over 5 lakh suggestions.

CM Kejriwal said, “We had sought suggestions from the people and we have received more than 5 lakh suggestions. Based on these suggestions we will send a proposal to the Center.”

“We have received a lot of suggestions from many market associations and most of them have said that markets and market premises should be opened. They said that they could be opened on an odd-even basis, half the shops a day and the remaining half. Shops the other day, ”he continued.

“Most have suggested that schools and educational institutes should stay closed till summer vacations,” he added.

Regarding the opening of the hotel and restaurant, Kejriwal said that many people said that the hotel should remain closed while the restaurant should be open only for take-out and home delivery.

“Most people also said that hotels should remain closed, although restaurants should be opened for take-off and home delivery. People should not be allowed to eat in restaurants, however, there is almost a general consensus that barbers will Shops, spas, salons, cinema halls, and swimming pools should not open, ”said Kejriwal.
