Notre Dame : Fire Under Control Main Structure Of 850-Year-Old Was Rescued

Mumbai: The fierce explosion that destroyed the roof of the 850-year-old world heritage of Notre Dame Cathedral in France has been brought under control. By the early hours of the day, about 400 fire brigades had to be brought under control.

“The fire is completely under control. The news agency AFP told that it has been partially extinguished. Paris’s fire brigade chief Jean-Claude Gaillet said that the main structure of the Notre-Dame was rescued and two towers were preserved.

UK Prime Minister Theresa May said in a tweet, “My thoughts are with the people of France tonight and with the emergency services who are fighting the terrible blaze at Notre-Dame cathedral”.

US President Donald Trump took to Twitter and said it was horrible to watch the fire and suggested that flying water tankers could be used to extinguish the blaze.

Although the cause of the fire is not known yet, the officials said that due to the renewal work started after the cracks appeared in stone it could happen.

Since this news has emerged, many leaders have expressed their anguish on heavy losses. The Vatican expressed shock and sorrow and said that it was praying for French fire services. Calling Notre-Dame a symbol of French and European culture, German Chancellor Angela Merkel offered her support for the French people.

Located in the centre of the French capital in the Middle Ages, the Notre Dame was completed in the mid-12th century after the construction of 200 years. During the French Revolution in the 18th century, the Church was barbarian.
