Stop All Flights To Kolkata: Mamata Writes To PM Modi to Stop Coronavirus

Mumbai: West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee wrote to PM Narendra Modi on Monday urging him to ensure no flying land in Kolkata to stop the spread of coronavirus.

According to data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there are a total of seven confirmed cases of COVID-19 in West Bengal.

In her letter, Mamta said that her government has put West Bengal under partial lockdown to fight against coronaviruses, but the Center is helping tremendously by allowing domestic flights to operate.

The West Bengal CM termed the operation of the flights as “a major violation of the shutdown and quarantine protocol”, saying that there is no system of social disturbance in domestic flights.

“I, would, therefore, request you to kindly arrange to issue necessary instructions to stop all flights coming to West Bengal with immediate effect so that the source of spreading infection is effectively contained and lockdown in the state is implemented in true letter and spirit,” she wrote to PM Modi.

The total number of positive cases of COVID-19 in India is 415. There have been seven deaths from the epidemic.

According to official data provided by the Ministry of Health, 24 people infected with the virus have been discharged after receiving treatment.
