Mumbai: Pro Kabaddi League franchisee Punari Paltan announced Surjit Singh as the captain for the upcoming season 7 on Wednesday.
Singh, a defender, was a part of Paltan in season 3. Head coach Anup Kumar said that Surjeet would give pride to the team.
Kumar said, “Surjeet is a valuable asset for the team and he will surely lead the team towards glory, he has the experience of leading the team and I am confident that his leadership ability will take us quite forward.”
He said, “With the current team and a leader like Surjeet, I am confident that this season we will perform a magnificent performance.”
Singh said that he was courteous to the decision to appoint him as a captain.
He said, this is my second term after season 3 with the Puneri platoon and there is nothing better than getting an opportunity to lead the team with the return
He said, “Under the guidance of Under Cirrus, we are training on a large scale to give our best performance for the league and we are ready to set fire to all of us.”
Singh will lead the Punari Paltan team, which includes Nitin Tomar, Girish Ernakulam, Pawan Kumar and Darshan Kadian.
The seventh season of PKL will start in Hyderabad on July 20 and the Punari Paltan will play its first match against Haryana Steelers on July 22.
A New Jersey team of the team was also launched on this occasion.
