SC Ends Lifetime Ban On Right-arm Medium Pace Bowler Sreesanth

Mumbai: In May 2013, Sreesanth was arrested by Delhi Police for his involvement in the spot-fixing controversy during IPL which shook Indian cricket.

He has never played any competitive cricket since the nightmare in the T20 tournament. Meanwhile, it has been found that the Supreme Court cancelled the lifelong ban imposed on Kerala cricketer.

The BCCI’s disciplinary committee ordered Sreesanth for a lifetime ban after the match-fixing spot scandal playing for Rajasthan Royals.

The bench made it clear that Sreesanth will get the opportunity of being heard by the committee on the quantum of the punishment.

Salman Khurshid, who came in front of Sreesanth, commented that the initial investigation report has not been given to him. The court was informed that at any level, the BCCI had asked them to say about the proposal of Rs 10 lakh, which was revealed during the telephone conversation.

“I was accused of the most serious offence. I was convicted of the most serious offence, but the standard of evidence is the least serious crime,” Sreesanth said.
